Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained two people including a Rohingya man with 13 lakh yaba tablets from a boat in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

The detainees are- Ayas, 34, son of Bashir Ahmed from Balukhali Rohingya camp, and Billal, 45, hailing from Hazipara area of Cox’s Bazar town.

RAB Additional Director General Cor. Tofail Mostafa Sarwar made the disclosure at a press conference held at RAB office in Cox’s Bazar on Monday noon.

He said: “Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive at Khuruskul point of the Bay of Bengal on Sunday night. During the raid, the team seized a fishing boat covertly used for transporting drug.”

It was one of the largest drug consignments seized by law enforcers in the area. Thirteen lakh yaba pills were seized from the boat. Law enforcers also detained two smugglers from the boat with Tk 10,900 and a mobile phone, he added.
