A Dhaka court on Saturday (July 16) placed 15 men on a three-day remand each in a case filed over the death of Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) student Tariquzzaman Sunny.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Kazi Ashrafuzzaman passed the order after Sub-Inspector (SI) Shamsul Alam of Qutubpur Naval Police Station had produced the accused before the court with a seven days' remand plea. 

The accused were - Shariful Hossain, Shakil Ahmed, Sejan Ahmed, Md Rubel, Md Sajeeb, Md Nurzaman, Md Nasir, Md Maruf, Ashraful Alam, Jahangir Hossain Liton, Md Noman, Md Zahid, ATM Shahriar Momin, Maruful Haque Maruf and Roknuzzaman. 

Earlier on July 14, Sunny went missing at around 8:30pm on July 14 while taking a selfie in the Padma river with his friends at Moinot Ghat in Dhaka’s Dohar upazila.

Later, Sunny’s elder brother Hasaduzzaman filed a murder case against his 15 friends.
