Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the national elections will be held on December, 2023.

He was addressing a joint meeting with Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami League leaders at the party's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue on Friday (Feb 10) morning.

He said: "An election is ahead. We are about to complete five years. According to the Election Commission, the general elections in Bangladesh may be held in the month of December."

On September 14, 2022, Election Commissioner Mohammad Alamgir announced that the twelfth national election will be held in January 2024. Besides making the announcement, he also said that the election schedule will be announced after November 2023.
