JaPa Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu passes away

Jatiya Party (JaPa) Secretary General Ahmed Ziauddin Bablu has died from Covid-19. He was 67.

He breathed his last at 9:15 am on Saturday at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Dhaka, party chairman's press secretary Khandaker Delwar Jalali confirmed Banglanews.

Bablu was admitted to Labaid Specialized Hospital in Dhanmondi for Covid-19 on September 6. He was taken to the ICU of Bangladesh Specialized Hospital after his condition worsened.

The former lawmaker had been suffering from various health issues, including asthma and heart disease, for some time, Jalali said.

His namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayers) will be held after Isha prayers at Gulshan Azad Mosque. He will be buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard afterwards.

In a condolence message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.

In April 2014, Bablu was appointed Jatiya Party secretary general, replacing Ruhul Amin Hawlader.

On January 19, 2016, party founder HM Ershad removed Bablu from the post and replaced him with Ruhul Amin Hawlader.

Bablu was made party secretary general once again on July 26 last year by Chairman GM Quader.
