Despite a below-par bowling performance in the second T20 International against Afghanistan on Friday, Mustafizur Rahman entered the record books by achieving a remarkable milestone.

Although he went wicketless and conceded 40 runs in four overs, Mustafizur bowled seven dot balls — taking his total tally of dot deliveries in T20 internationals to 1,142, the highest in the format’s history.

The Bangladesh pacer surpassed former New Zealand bowler Tim Southee, who has 1,138 dot balls. Following them are Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan (1,078), England’s Adil Rashid (988), and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (984).

Mustafizur has bowled 2,616 deliveries in 120 innings, with 43.65% of them being dots. He has conceded 3,195 runs and taken 152 wickets in T20Is so far.

Among Bangladeshi bowlers, Taskin Ahmed ranks 11th on the all-time dot-ball list with 838 dots in 81 innings, maintaining an impressive 47.74% dot rate.

Rashid Khan, however, leads the top five in wickets (179) and economy rate (6.12), while Mustafizur follows with 152 wickets and an economy of 7.32.

Bangladesh won Friday’s match by two wickets, sealing the three-match series 2–0.
