The government has officially declared August 5 as July Uprising Day and August 8 as New Bangladesh Day to honor key events in the nation's recent history.
The Cabinet Division issued separate circulars on Wednesday (June 25) confirming the decision.
August 8 commemorates the formation of the interim government after the student-led mass uprising ousted the previous regime.
Besides, July 16 has been declared Martyr Abu Sayed Day, honoring the student killed in police firing during protests in Rangpur.
A 36-member national committee, chaired by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, has been formed to coordinate observances.
A 36-day national program will run from July 1 to August 5, marking the anniversary of last year’s student movement.
