DHAKA: Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan on Thursday accorded a reception to the veteran freedom fighters and their close relatives ahead of the Armed Forces Day.

General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan talked to three Bir Uttoms, six Bir Bikrims, 11 brave freedom fighters and relatives of three Birshresthas at Army Officer’s Club and gave them gifts.

He respectfully remembered the contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all other freedom fighters saying, “Due to their sacrifice we became independent.”

He added the army persons have been working hard for the development of the country.

“Besides, the army persons, with their efficiency, have earned respect for Bangladesh in abroad,” he further said.
