6 get life-term in Lalmonirhat

LALMONIRHAT: A Lalmonirhat court on Thursday awarded life-term rigorous imprisonment to six people in a murder case.

The court also fined Tk 50,000 each, in default, to serve three months more in jail.

The convicts are Abu Sama, Raham Ali and his brother Jamer Ali, Rafiq, Fazar Ali and Motleb, of Hatibandha upazila of the district.

Additional Session Judge Siddiqul Arefin Chowdhury passed the order.

The case statement said, on December 22 in 2005, the convicts beat Rashedul and two others mercilessly over a clash related to irrigation, leaving Rashedul dead.

Victim’s father Matiur Rahman filed a murder case against 10 persons with Hatibandha Thana on December 25 in 2005.

Among the accused, two died and two others were acquitted by the court as finding them innocent on the charge.

Additional Public Prosecutor AKM Abdul Khaleque Sarkar confirmed the matter to banglanews.
