JOYPURHAT: At least two people were killed and eight others injured in a road accident on Pathapara-Matrai road at Hopepathan Para under Khetlal Upazila of the district early Friday.

The deceased were identified as Asimuddin, 45 and his nephew Tofazzal Hossain, 40, hailed from Apoil Nimirpara village under Kalai Upazila of the district.

Witnesses said while returning from a ‘Nabanna’ program, a human hauler that was carrying them, turned upside down in the area around 5:00am, leaving both dead on the spot and eight others injured.

The injured were admitted to Kalai Upazila Health Complex, witnesses added.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khetlal Police Station, Manirul Islam, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
