DHAKA: Government has deployed twenty platoons Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in city to avoid any subversive incident centering the execution of verdict for the death row convicts war criminals Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.
The BGB were deployed across the city around 5:30pm.
BGB public relations official Mohsin Reza confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He said that the paramilitary personnel were deployed to avert any untoward situation.
Moreover, a three-tier security measures have been introduced at Dhaka Central Jail in the city Saturday evening.
Lalbagh Zone deputy commissioner (DC) Mofizuddin Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The earlier reports said members of different law enforcement agencies, including police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), have remained vigilant at different points of the city.
The scenarios were seen during spot visits at different places of the city.
During the visit, additional police members were seen deployed at different check posts of the city. Searches were continuing in bags and body of pedestrians and vehicles at the check posts.
Dhaka metropolitan police (DMP) media center additional deputy-commissioner (ADC) SN Jahangir Alam Sarker told banglanews that security boosted keeping the ongoing situation of the country in mind.
Police have remained on alert position at every check post to avoid any untoward incidents, he added.
RAB media wing director commander Mufti Mahmud Khan said RAB members are working to keep the law and order situation normal.
Every battalion has been instructed separately so that any quarter cannot get benefit using the ongoing situation, the RAB commander added.
Tejgaon industrial area assistant commissioner (traffic) Abu Yusuf said police are searching suspected people Hatijheel and Gulshan Niketon areas and some other strategic spots.
