DHAKA: The Information Commission has fined Bhatara Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Nurul Mottakin under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Moreover, the higher authorities have been asked to take departmental action against the convict.
The Informational Commission issued this order on Tuesday (February 9), said to sources concerned.
One Alauddin Al Masum submitted an application to know about the arrival of a High Court order to Bhatara Thana.
After the refusal by the OC in receiving the application, Masum filed a complaint to the commission.
Later, the commission summoned the OC to quiz him about the complaint but he skipped the hearing.
Then, it fined OC Mottakin a sum of Tk 5,000 for his absence and not supplying the necessary information to the citizen.
Moreover, it has issued a rule asking the higher authorities of police to take departmental action against the alleged police official.
Chief Information Commissioner Golam Rahman, Commissioner Nepal Chandra Sarkar and Professor Khurshida Begum Sayeed were present during the hearing.
