MEHERPUR: At least ten people, including two police personnel, were injured in a clash between villagers from Khalishkundi and Rajapur villages over a dispute on ruining crops in farmland at Gangni upazila in the district.

The injured police personnel Kamal, 45, and Jaher Ali, 46, were admitted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital and another one was admitted to Gangni Upazila Health Complex and nearby clinics.

Kumaridanga Police Outpost at Gangni Sub-inspector Mustazab told banglanews that some miscreants destroyed jute and chili field of Rajapur resident Sabur and the villagers blamed Khalishkundi people for that.

He added: “The allegations triggered sporadic violence between the villagers leaving ten people injured and extra police forces were deployed in the troublesome area to thwart any further violence.”
