CHITTAGONG: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina anticipated the verdict of the case over maritime boundary between India and Bangladesh in the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) of The Hague will be in favor of Bangladesh.
Hasina also said 38-year-old conflict over maritime boundary with Myanmar has also been settled by the efforts of the incumbent government.
She came up with the observations after providing National Standard to ‘BNS Bangabandhu’, the largest warship of Bangladesh, at Isa Khan Naval Base on Thursday.
The Prime Minister also said: “Due to the strategic geographical location the role of Bangladesh Navy is undeniable to protect maritime boundary of Bangladesh.”
She added: “Despite the economic limitations of the nation, the government is determined to provide with efficient, modern and three-dimensionally balanced Navy force.”
Earlier in the day, a helicopter carrying the premier landed at BAF Zahurul Haque base, Chittagong, around 11:40am.
The high officials of naval forces received Prime Minister cordially where she joined the commissioning ceremony of Maritime Patrol Aircraft.
State Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Food Minister Dr Abdur Razzak, Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr Afsarul Ameen, Abul Kashem Master MP, ABM Fazle Karim among others attended the programme.
After lunch at Naval Academy, Prime Minister will fly for Fatikchhari by helicopter.
Earlier, the premier will digitally inaugurate nine development works and lay foundation stone of four projects.
