A group of students and some people blocked a road at Asad Gate in Dhaka to protest recent rape incidents across the country and demand greater safety for all.
The blockade, which began at 12:30 pm on Sunday (February 23), has caused traffic congestion in the area, with vehicles still moving on one side of the road.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Arifur Rahman confirmed the blockade.
He said that senior police officials are present at the scene to manage the situation.
Earlier in the day, students from Eden Women’s College gathered at Bakultala at 10:30 am for a rally condemning sexual violence and demanding increased security for women and children.
