The National Moon Sighting Committee will meet this evening (June 26) to determine the date of Ashura by reviewing moon sighting reports for the month of Muharram, 1447 Hijri.

The meeting will be held at 7pm at the Islamic Foundation Conference Room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, according to a press release issued by the Islamic Foundation.

Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain will chair the meeting.

The public has been requested to report any sightings of the Muharram moon by calling 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916, or 02-41050917, or by sending faxes to 02-223383397 or 02-9555951. Moon sightings may also be reported to local district administrators or upazila nirbahi officers.
