DHAKA: The government has made directives to the authorities of current online newsportals to complete their registrations within December 15 with the view to ensure benefits to publishers and stopping yellow journalism.

The directives also said that anyone interested to open new newsportals also has to acquire a registration number first.

Press Information Department (PID) issued a statement in this regard on Monday.

It also said the newsportals need to submit a registration form and an affidavit to PID. Sample of the form and affidavit are available on the website www.pressinform.portal.gov.bd.

Besides, the registration form and affidavit sample can be collected from the protocol section of PID.

PID will also give registration numbers after verifying the information.
