DHAKA: A Sub-Inspector (SI) of Special Branch (SB) of police was killed and 14 others injured in a road accident at airport intersection area in city Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shafiq, 30, an SI of SB of police.

Quoting witnesses, airport thana SI Alamgir told banglanews that a rashly driven passenger bus knocked another bus from behind in the area around 10:30pm, injuring 15 passengers of the former.

Local people rushed SI Shafiq to Central Hospital of Uttara (Sector 1) in city where on-duty physicians declared him dead on arrival, he added.

Other injured were taken to Kurmitola General Hospital and other local hospitals, he added.

Police have seized the buses but drivers of both buses managed to flee the scene, SI M Alamgir added.
