DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to former Member of Parliament (MP) from Chittagong-4 constituency Abul Kashem Master at south plaza of the Jatiya Sangshad on Wednesday.

The premier placed floral wreath to the body of former Awami League (AL) lawmaker around 10:30am where she expressed her sympathy to bereaved family members.

Later, his first namaz-e-janaza was held at south plaza of the Jatiya Sangshad.

Earlier on Tuesday, the veteran leader of ruling party died at Square Hospital in the city due to kidney related diseases.

He was elected MP from Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong in 1996 and 2009 and severed as chairman of parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce Ministry during previous tenure of incumbent government.

Abul Kashem Master was president of Sitakunda upazila unit Awami League and also vice-president of Chittagong (north) unit AL.
