DHAKA: The reading out of documents of the case of condemned war criminal Matiur Rahman Nizami, including the verdict given by the International Crimes Tribunal ended on Wednesday, the sixth day of the appeal hearing.
The 4-member Appellate Division bench of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice SK Sinha set November 30 for placing arguments.
According to court order, defense counsel will place argument for three consecutive days from November 30 to December 2 while state counsel will place their argument on December 7.
The appeal hearing will come to an end through placing further argument by defense counsel, the court added.
The other members include-- Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Hasan Foez Siddique.
Defense lawyer SM Shahjahan concluded placing the documents in support of the appeal petition in the court.
Earlier on October 29 of 2014, three-member International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 led by its chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim, awarded death sentence to Motiur Rahman Nizami for his crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.
Other two judges were Justice Anwarul Haque and Justice Jahangir Hossain.
On November 23 of that year, Nizami appealed against the verdict.
