DHAKA: City mayor Annisul Huq said that the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is working to introduce 3,000 new buses for women and children with modern ticketing facilities to ply city roads.
Moreover, over one hundred toilets will also be setup in city.
The DNCC mayor made this disclosure at ‘Policy Cafe’ program aiming to stop women repression at Banani Club playground in city Thursday noon.
Rights activists Salma Khan, Zadeza Ispahani and Khushi Kabir, among others, spoke at the event, conducted by Farah Khan.
The mayor said that the different areas including Gulshan and Banani have come under close circuit (CC) camera coverage. About 1,000 more CC cameras will be installed in different parts of DNCC area.
Moreover, three thousand new buses with modern ticketing facilities will ply city roads, he said.
These buses will be women and children friendly, the mayor added.
According to him, from 100 to 115 public toilets including separate toilets for women will be constructed in the city.
