DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she wants to see whether BNP joins the upcoming local government elections under party banner.

She made this comment at a program held at her residence in city Thursday evening.

‘Awami League always wants to participate in elections. Now, we want to see whether BNP takes part in the upcoming polls under party banner.’

According to the PM, if the local government elections were held under party banner in the previous years, it could play an important role in strengthening the political parties.

‘Candidates of the local government elections with party symbols could be more careful about the interest of voters,’ the PM added.
