99 held in special drives in 2 dists

DHAKA: Police detained 99 people in overnight special drives at different places in two districts in a bid to curb criminal activities and sabotages in the country.

The drives were conducted between Thursday night and Friday dawn at four upazilas of Narail and different upazilas of Chittagong.

Quoting Police control room sources, Banglanews Narail correspondent reports: Acting on tip off, several teams of police rounded up 15 suspected people from Sadar Thana, 10 each from Lohagora and Noragati upazilas and nine from Kalia upazila of the district.

Moreover, 15 cocktails, a Chinese axe and four bottles phensidyl were recovered in an abandoned condition from Kagjipara of district sadar.

Besides, police arrested convicted fugitive Lipear Molla, 28, son of Mansur Ali of Lohagora upazila.

Narail police super Sardar Rakibul Islam told banglanews that the drives will be continued.

In Chittagong, several teams comprising additional force of thana concerned detained 65 people from different places of the district.
 
Chittagong additional police super (special branch) told banglanews operations are going on to prevent criminal activities and sabotages. In last night’s drive, we detained 65 people.

O f them, 49 people, including four convicted fugitives were wanted accused while 12 are accused in regular cases.

Besides, four were held under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
