50 injured in Savar road mishap

SAVAR: At least 50 people were injured in a head-on collision between two passenger buses on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway Tuesday morning.

Among the injured, 12 were rushed to different hospitals in Savar and Dhaka in critical condition.

Ashulia thana Officer-in-Charge Sirajul Islam told banglanews a Nandan Park-bound bus from Dhaka and another from Kaliakoir collided head-on at Chackrabarty near Ashulia at about 8:45am, leaving 50 passengers of both vehicles injured.

On information, police and local people rescued the injured passengers and sent them to hospitals.

Traffic on the busy highway came to a halt for two hours as hundreds of vehicles got stranded on both sides of the road following the accident.
