President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed deep shock at the death of senior Awami League lawmaker Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury.
In separate messages, they prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, Deputy Leader of Opposition and Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader also expressed condolence at the death of the senior AL leader.
Sajeda Chowdhury, an Awami League Presidium member and deputy leader of the House, died while undergoing treatment for post-Covid complications at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka at 11:40pm on Sunday, her son Shahdab Akbar Chowdhury confirmed to Dhaka Tribune.
She was admitted to the hospital with post-Covid-19 complications two weeks ago. On Saturday, Shahdab said his mother was improving. In 2015, she underwent bypass surgery in India.
Sajeda Chowdhury was elected an MP for the seventh time in 2019 from the Faridpur-2 constituency.
