Rupganj AL holds meeting to make PM’s visit success

The Rupganj unit of Bangladesh Awami League held a preparatory meeting on Friday morning to make the PM's visit a success.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to visit Rupganj on February 2 for inaugurating a depot of Mass Rapid Transit line-1 (MRT-1).

Leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated bodies attended the meeting held at temporary office of Rongdhanu Group in Nawra area of Rupganj.

Later, Rongdhanu Group distributed 8,000 blankest among poor and destitute people in the area.

Chairman of Rongdhanu Group and Awami League leader Rafiqul Islam attended the meeting as chief guest which was presided over by former vice president of Upazila Awami League Abul Bashar Tuku.

Apart from this, the leaders and workers held separate preparatory meetings in each union and municipal area.

In the meeting, Bashundhara Group, Rongdhanu Group and Upazila Awami League jointly took initiative to gather more than 3 lakh people from various areas of Bholabo, Daudpur, Bhulta, Golakandail, Rupganj, Kayetpara, Murapara Union, Kanchan and Tarabo municipalities of the upazila peacefully.

The meeting also directed all to beautify the Prime Minister's meeting venue and its surrounding area.

Rafiqul Islam said “It would take only 15 minutes to reach Dhaka instead of two hours after implementation of the metro rail project. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken this initiative to realize Bangabandhu's dream and we are always with her.”

Former member of Zilla Parishad and director of Rangdhanu Group Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Kayetpara Union Awami League Senior Vice President freedom fighter Shamsul Alam, Union Awami League General Secretary Advocate Abdul Awal, among others, were present in the meeting.
